I
graduated from Fitchburg State College in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Following that I traveled extensively through Guatemala, Yucatan peninsula and Southern Mexico (1975-1976) observing the culture and studying with an herbalist in Palenque, Mexico, before completing my post graduate work (1978-1980) at the University of Southern Maine as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
After graduating from the NP program, I worked in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. My primary nursing experience was in ICU and ER medicine, until I joined with the FHC-P in 1981, where I’ve stayed, working with patients for the last 27 years.
Based on my philosophy that all medicine is valid if it serves the patient well, I have developed a strong working relationship with many alternative providers on the Seacoast, i.e. chiropractors, acupuncturists and energy workers, and make referrals to them when it is appropriate and acceptable to a patient. In addition to traditional drug therapies, I use herbal compounds, glandulars, nutritional supplements and flower essences. For the past 20 years, I have been working with and prescribing bio-identical hormones with great success to treat hormonal imbalances in women, as well as the symptoms of menopause.
My greatest joy and passion is to educate patients, empowering them to stay well in body and mind, and teaching them ways to care for themselves. My experience has taught me that the most successful outcomes happen when there is collaboration between the patient and the practitioner, through sharing information and by using an integrative approach to medical care.
Vicky is happy to see patients for annual GYN exams, family planning, menopause therapy, routine GYN problems and bio-identical hormone therapy. Appointments are scheduled through The Feminist Health Center.
